Found the KK Purple Hat Loom

I am so excited.  A post in one of the groups I belong too told me that Amazon has the KK Purple hat loom.  I have been looking for this loom for a couple of months.  So I checked it out and low and behold they have it, it's in stock.  So I ordered one and it will be here on Tuesday.  Can't wait.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

It's the weekend................

So it's Saturday and for the first day in I give up trying to figure out how long, we do not yet have a posted heat warning.  It is 76F here in Amherst at 7:00 a.m. but who's counting.

Earlier this week I picked up cotton yarn at Joann's.  And I realized I had never made a dish cloth in my life.  In all the years of crocheting and knitting, I just never got around to making one.  So...........using the blue KK round loom (24 pegs) and a double strand of cotton yarn, I made my first dish cloth.

Not a bad first attempt.  Will definitely be making more of those.  Now I'm going to try and figure out which loom to use to make a towel.

Ordered yarn that should arrive today for a special project.  Looking forward to starting that and will keep you posted when its done.

Have a great day all.

Happy WIP Wednesday

It's been a busy couple of days in the looming department.  And my work in progress actually resulted in several finished projects and a couple of new ones getting going.  If you have not been to my Etsy site recently, more products have made their way into the store.

So today, I finished a child's scarf, a baby hat, and started a baby cocoon to match the hat, and a child's hat to match the scarf.  Am continuing to work on the Airy Shawl and hope to have that finished by the end of the weekend coming up.  With all the heat around our area, that is just too hot to pile in my lap and work on at the moment.

Am working on a pattern for a hat with ear flaps.  First one came out pretty well.  Pictures coming soon.  And the baby hat I made today is a variation of the pattern, sized way smaller.

I just love knitting and hopefully some of my projects will find new homes soon.  And as always, anything you see in my shop can be made to order in your choice of colors, etc.  Just let me know.

Hope you are finding a place to stay cool.

A first sale

Wow - my Etsy shop had it's first sale last night.  I opened the shop on June 30 and was thrilled to see that first customer purchase.  I have never sold any of my work before.  So this was exciting.  When I get home from work today, I'll be adding new items to the shop.  Come visit often.  You never know what you may find.  Many thanks to my first customer.  You will always have a special place in my life and memory.

Sunday early morning

Happy Sunday all. Here in Amherst, it looks like it's going to be another hot, sticky day. So its another day to knit and putter around the house. My hexagon blanket is done. Just needs to be washed. The yarn for this one came out of my stash. And I've found most worsted weight works up rather stiff. But putting it through the wash softens it up wonderfully. Also started a child size hat to go with the blanket. That should be done today. So here's the blanket. Tazzy hates having her picture taken, but seemed to like the blanket.
Have a wonderful day everyone.

Twocatsmom Knits

This is the companion blog to my Etsy site and I'll put more information here as we go along. Let me bring you up to date so far. I have been crocheting and loom knitting for about 40 odd years (give or take, who's counting). With each and every project I create, I do so with love - one stitch at a time. I don't knit/crochet just for the sake of doing it. I find it relaxing and calming and it is something that I love. It doesn't matter what the project is. It doesn't matter if it is for someone special or for my shop. I create things because I love creating things and have fun doing it. And I honestly believe that something made by hand beats the same thing mass produced and bought in a store any day of the week.

About 2 years ago, I was diagnosed with COPD.  And about a little over a year ago, I had to begin using oxygen under exertion.  I try not to limit myself in what I do and don't do.  But I have learned what my limitations are.  Weather is my biggest challenge.  The temperature and high humidity and dew point we have been experiencing the past week or so have given me a lot more time to knit, because being out and about is not really a good option.  I do work part time (four hours a day max).  And that is before it gets totally unbearable (from 8 am to noon).  I love working but again, I am learning my limitations.

Right now, I have five projects on various looms in all sorts of states of completion.  And I'll be adding completed items to Etsy over the next couple of days.

Here are a couple of projects completed recently.......

These are all baby afghans and newborn size hats.  I have also made scarves and adult size hats.  I am completing a shawl, a hexagon baby blanket, and child sized scarf and hat set, and another shawl from a pattern I wrote (available on Etsy).

Check back often because I'll be sharing some fun projects here.  And if I can create something for you, please just ask.  In fact - let's create something together.

Here's to looming and crocheting - let the fun begin.
